As part of its 2024 New York edition, Collectible Design Fair invited Mexican artist and designer Sofia Elías to present her work among a selection of emerging voices in contemporary collectible design.

Founder and Creative Director of Blobb, Elías develops sculptural objects that exist between art, design, and play. Her practice explores organic forms, material experimentation, and the emotional relationships we build with everyday objects.

For the fair, Elías presented her Pofi Chairs and the Party of Three a series of collectible seating pieces characterized by their soft, inflated silhouettes and playful presence. Blurring the boundaries between furniture and sculpture, the chairs embodied her ongoing investigation into tactility, imagination, and functional art. She also presented her sculptural bags that are best described as wearable art.

Through her work, Elías proposes a more joyful and intuitive approach to design, creating objects that invite interaction while challenging conventional notions of form and use.
