“La repetición es un desastre” is a show highlighting the many facets of Sofia Elias’s artistic practice, her explorations in her roles as architect, artist, and designer, and the common narratives of play, fantasy, and innovation on traditional forms. Elias’s various ludic outputs blur the lines between functional objects, sculptural works of art, and architectural investigations into materials and scale, resulting in a sensory experience with playfulness as the goal.

 

Elias invites you to play with Blobb, a series of unique miniature sculptures for the body developed through experiments with materials, textures, and colors. Elias invented the material, an extremely lightweight resin and recycled plastic, that she uses to sculpt the rings and bracelets. The result is a material that retains the one-of-a-kind shapes that Elias molds, but is imbued with a flexible and chewy feel. all 3,000 pieces ever made have all been made by hand.
